Our education system is an absolute shit show.

For the longest time, I thought a major factor in the decline of our education system was lack of funding. Recently I learned that America actually has one of the highest “funding-per-student” values. Although I still think the education system still deserves more funding, the current mismanagement of funding points to much deeper problems.

Not only does too much of the funding go to non-learning aspects of schools (sports, security, renovations), but the inequality of funding between wealthy and poor schooling districts is disgusting, the lack of pay and respect given to teachers is deplorable, and our policies on education have been implemented by unqualified and corrupt twats who feel like they’re actively trying to sabotage our education.

But even though I wouldn’t be surprised if these sociopaths were actively and intentionally sabotaging the education system, the more likely reason is how extraordinarily under qualified and absolutely moronic they are.
