The Grandparent Test For Determining Law/Morality

[*Original date – 14 November 2018]

• The basic rule for this test is to determine the punishments/consequences of different acts of crimes by seeing what you would do if your grandparents did them.

1. For example, if you found your grandparents smoking weed, you wouldn’t put them in prison. If anything, you’d just warn them if the potential dangers and let them do it.

2. If you found them doing heroin, you once again wouldn’t send them to prison, but you’d make them stop and get them help. Rehab would be the appropriate consequence.

3. However, if your grandparents murdered someone, you would have to admit to yourself that no matter your personal feelings, they deserve to go to prison

• This method can be effective do to the inherent love and respect one generally has for their grandparents. The love makes us want to help first, and the respect makes it so we only act if we must
