1-The TX GOP campaigned on removing the teaching of critical thinking skills from school because they “challenge fixed beliefs” in 2012.
2-That’s so ignorant it’s evil. They’re trying to educationally cripple entire generations of children.
3-It’s more about maintaining the status quo I’d argue. People in positions of authority who crave the power are less willing to part with it. I am hesitant to condemn anyone as evil before I’ve more information on them, however.
2-What you just described is evil. Intentionally crippling a population’s critical thinking skills to maintain their power and status quo is one of the things dictatorships do. They’re trying to create a population that can’t think for themselves and can’t overthrow them. They don’t see people as people. They see them as assets to make money. They’ve proven to us that they’d sacrifice us for money. They no longer get the benefit of the doubt. They are evil.
3-What I described is human nature. People will justify almost anything if it suits their needs. It is not relegated to party lines or ideals.
2-Yes, trying to maintain power is human nature. But what they’re doing has gone far beyond that. It’s human nature to want to have sex with anything that moves, but you would never defend a rapist who follows his nature to that extent.
2-And I didn’t say anything about a specific party. I think the democratic party is incredibly corrupt. They’re just not a actively fucking America in the ass right now.
3-You will have to quantify “far beyond that”. If you think this is the grossest injustice people have imposed on one another. I invite you to become more acquainted with history. Further, your argument would imply that rape is normal human behavior but we simply know that is not true based on the fact that not every other person is out there committing rape.
2-There’s a lot to address in your comment. First, just because it’s not the worst thing they can do doesn’t somehow make it OK. Second, making a dumb, subservient population is one of the early steps that lead to much more horrendous outcomes. If you studied history, then you would know that. Lastly, it can be argued that rape is human nature. We as a society decided that rape is bad, so we teach our children that is not ok. History is filled with armies conquering and raping lands.
3-It’s not as though I don’t agree with the point of controlling a population through ignorance If I gave the impression I didn’t understand that let alone the moral and ethical quandaries I apologize. I merely question the comparison to Evil as we have seen so much through history. I never said it was justified or ok.
2-I kinda used the wrong words for that. I guess it’s more that just because there have been worse, a “lesser” evil act is still evil. Sure there could be philosophical debates on whether creating an ignorant population is evil or not. I very much think it is. But we have evidence with current events that ignorance actively kills people. To promote ignorance in your population leads to unnecessary death. I don’t know how many people would debate the morality of that.
