I’m trying to figure out. This has been one of those questions that’s been in the back of my mind for a long time. The only thing I’ve really come to is that “ascendance” is to go above, while “transcendence” is to go beyond. Another idea I’ve been playing with is that you can descend, as in lose ascendance, while you can’t untranscend (as in come back from transcendence). I also just noticed how “transcendence” matches up with “transition,” which kinda agrees with the idea of a permanent change
