untitled note | 28 December 2020 | “gods are our assumptions”

Everyone has gods. Gods are our assumptions of truth.

Our gods are our assumptions. We follow them without question, whether or not we realize. We are subservient to our assumptions. We follow their laws. We guide our lives with them. Even when we can’t prove them, we are forced to have faith in them, else we would never move. Only faith will move what what knowledge cannot.

We kill our gods by understanding them. When we no longer rely on assumptions, we no longer rely on gods, but I cannot fathom a point in humanity where we will ever conquer all assumptions. The moment we cease to rely on assumptions is the moment we ascend beyond what it is to be human.
