What motivates you?

& so with this poem I have finished
The first project I've ever set
a due date for a year away
& I did it in less than half
my time I had given to my self
Shows what you can do when
the motivation that finds you
Is going in the same direction
your passion is already heading
Motivation & passion - tragic love
The kinda love saved for the one
But the two meet far to early
Before they've had any fun
Before they know what they had
Their story is that one is always
ready to go - Just never when
the other one knows - 'cause they
Both think Life is like running
round & round Olympic tracks &
the only way to win is to stay
in your lane - Eyes forward
'cause looking back means
slowing down - like those Losers
whom you knew were behind where
They would stay both night & day
If you really wanna win - turning
your head is a sin & they knew
they'd never become anything
other than number one - so
they never took the time
To check on the faces
They'd never reflect
But then what's really the point of
winning it all & becoming the one
if the first time you see a tree
Is when you wake up in pitch black
6ft under the tree they planted
To honer your death after defeat;
winning can't be won - to win
is simply to be free & happy
& how happy trees who finish
every race as "did not place"
Must be as that gets to eat
every winner for all eternity
Who never took their time to
Meet th tree their life leads to
&
I don't know where I'm going from here
But this time I'm not nearly as scared
'cause I finally know both dreams aware
Of who is gone & who's really there
& that when both appear in my stare
I know I'll finally manifest lightning stairs
