The Disadvantage of Intelligence

TL;DR: I think you’re a winner! You achieved something, and more importantly, never gave up. I think you’re awesome, so don’t let others’ expectations take away all the things you’ve achieved; the things they’ll never see that made “me” into “Me”.
So I hope you know that even though you’ve experienced failure, I don’t think you failed at life. The meaning of life is to exist. You waking up is enough proof that you deserve the life you’ve been given.
“In a way, you’ve already won in this world because you’re the only one who can be you.” – Mr. Rogers
It’s your Time to spend. And then it’s all forgotten in the end. No one actually keeps track of the score. We’re just playing games so we don’t get bored. Don’t let others define the value of your time. You’ll end up measuring yourself up to a crooked line, then find it’s one you never even wanted to be aligned.
I know it’s a few months later, but I hope you still feel that self-worth & accomplishment of finally graduating. If I had to describe what a “failed life” actually looks like, it’d be giving up on something that you want. There’s nothing wrong with you if school just doesn’t vibe with “who I am really” – but the fact you tried 5 times shows you wanted this. And guess what? You achieved it!
Falling down hurts, but you kept getting back up. As someone who is currently a 2-time dropout – I know how hard the fall is. 2 was enough for me to decide I’ll leave the future to decide if I finish school. But that’s what makes you extraordinary – you fell 2 more times than me, yet you kept picking yourself up!

School might teach you facts, but your struggle is where you learned what you’re really made of. At the end of the day, you have the same degree as every other student – but now your signature has a real weight to it. When everyone eventually forgets the random nonsense nobody actually uses from school, you will always remember how to keep going. You’ll always know that you didn’t do it because it was easy. You did it because you were – no, because you are strong enough to overcome adversity.
When life throws you off your horse, you know you can & will get back up, while those who followed a paved path may realize that none of those A’s ever really mattered when given a real life test without a rubric telling them what is the “right way.”
When life blocks the right road, so many no longer know where to go. When the 1 way they’ve always used is gone, they realize that they never actually learned how to actually figure out what to do, just memorized the patterns with no real meaning when life takes away what they’ve been programed to do.
But not you. You know that even if it takes longer to get there, that 3 Lefts still take you to the Right destination. You know that no matter how the world defines success – finishing the race is worth it, no matter your pace. Even if you get last place – you know you found the finish with your real face. And in the end, you’ll know that you’re not just a mannequin who has been traced.
If you ask me, you succeeded in a way greater than getting the grade. When you write your name at the end of the day, your signature will be first & in bold, because you made your own way while everyone else just did what they were told.
Doing the same as everyone else is lame. You won your own game, and unlike those measured by typical success, your story is one that will have something unique to say. They may have been on a fast track, but your offroad trip means you know “Who I Am, Really“
