One reason
Gifted kids drop-off
Is that they’re told all their life
You cannot fail, rather, not allowed
& that works at first – keeping us in line
With fear, but eventually a thought spawns
“What happens if I do?”
We know what success looks like
Having been indoctrinated as children
& then, given no option other than achieve it
‘Til deciding they would rather be their own person
Than fulfill a vision they never had a say in manifesting
