Today’s been alright
A pretty smooth start
With both a few annoyances & pleasantries
Like when I walked in
The waiting room was empty
So I knew I didn’t have to wait long
Though check-in took awhile
Because the person who pricked my finger
To test my blood before donating
Was pretty awful at it
She pricked the pad of my fingers
Rather than the edges
Which not only hurts more
But also bleeds less
& so after about 2 minutes
Of her failing to do what takes 15 seconds
She decides to have a do-over
& try again on another finger
Where she made the same mistakes
So it took almost as long again
But at least she got enough on the second go
Luckily after that
Getting hooked up to the machine
Was one of those times I couldn’t feel the needle go in
So, I guess that makes up for the finger pricks
The only other thing of real note
Adding to the annoyances
Is that my allergies are acting up today
So I have to sit through all this
With watery eyes & a stuffed up nose
