People always praise unconditional Love, and rightfully so; it’s a divine quality to possess. However, I think in our infatuation with this perfect Love, which only God can truly possess because of Whö he is really, has led us to devalue conditional Love. Unconditional Love is so impersonal. There is nothing you can do or not do that could risk losing unconditional Love. Which sounds nice when you feel like you don’t deserve Love, but when you get to a point where you feel like a genuinely worthwhile person to Love, you realize that unconditional Love means that, regardless whatever you do, God loves you just as much as God loves Hitler. That’s what “unconditional” really means. God loves Ü, regardless of who you are. He doesn’t care about you. He just arbitrarily decided to love Ü. Since you are a part of Ü, by default, without caring about your Life, he’s decided to Love your Life. Then, when all is said & done, and no one can change a thing, God will build the reality where everything has a reason retroactively, thus freeing God of Sin aquired through appreciation of Liminal Evil.
This kinda turned into a word-vomit explaining the callous nature of unconditional Love, yet what inspired the initial thought was the genuine connection that comes from conditional Love. Life is better when you approach it with unconditional Love, because in the end it’s better to love Life than to hate it. But there’s something special that blooms only when certain conditions are met.
I love all children, but still, I can’t wait to hold my own.
