Random Thought #43: Science☯Religion

My particular perspective of Religion revolves around Science. What I’d describe as my “default goal” is to develop a religion that scientists can easily subscribe to. But the thing is, I’m not trying to convince scientists to believe in God. My goal is to prove to them that they already believe, then, have a familiar structure prepared that allows them realize they’ve done all the hard work in building God, now they just have to believe in themselves.

There’s a few simple tests that I use to prove whether or not you believe in God. The easiest one is asking, “do you enjoy Music?” People don’t realize that without God, “Music” is just “Sound.” It’s a simple proof, but requires a deep understanding of philosophy to actually prove. So, if a scientist is already wanting to believe, that’s a great avenue, but the problem is, it seems like most self-declared scientists actively reject the possibility of God (which I find hypocritical for a scientist, though that’s a thought for another time). It’s not they disagree with the Logic of God at its essence, just that they’ve been so burned by those who claim to represent God, they turn off their minds whenever the word is mentioned. But I’ve found that if you talk about “God” in vague terms, they’ll agree with you. Hence, why I believe most scientists already believe in God, just not in the people who claim to follow God.

I’m gonna tangent back closer to my 1st paragraph. What do I mean about scientists having already built God? Even now, with the image in my head, I’m finding it hard to pinpoint where to start, because ironically, science has built many gods in their unintentional pursuit of God, called Truth. Because that is the God we all share: Truth. But how does Science capture Truth? Through two words (primarily): Fact & Uncertainty. Fact is absolute Truth. Ü can’t argue with Fact, for it is Truth (which is why Science also developed a lesser god called “Theory,” though that’s not the 2nd aspect of “God” mentioned earlier). On the other hand “Uncertainty,” is just Science’s way of saying, “all things are possible through God.” Uncertainty is the acknowledgement that, no matter how careful you are, you admit you can never be certain. “The only thing I know is that I know nothing” – that’s because, only “God Knows.”

And that’s what I mean about scientists already building a God that answers their questions. Our observation & reasoning are gifts from God meant to encounter Truth, yet Uncertainty is ever-present to keep us humble, so that we can recognize the true expression of God, Fact – for even if I know nothing, something in me still knows when it makes sense to believe.
