Random Thought #57: Ü Can (Not) Force Good Timing

I think the simplest way to describe the difference between the Light & Dark side of the Force is that the Light side gives you power not when you want it but when you need it, whereas the Dark side gives it to you when you want it but not when you need it.

Like these two examples. Mace Windu might have wanted power so he could end things on his terms and not get thrown out of a window, but Luke needed that power to resist the Dark side while Vader needed it to finally return to the Light & restore balance to the force. Mace may have had good intentions, but only the Force has the infinite perspective to know when the Time is truly right for Light to prevail. The Force knows the Light wins in the end, so the Dark gets near free-reign in between when it doesn’t really matter. That’s why it seems Palpatine has unlimited power, up until the point when he turns into a feeble old man falling down a shaft.

(A little off topic, but that’s what made Qui-gon one of the greatest Jedi – he understood the Force knows better than him, so he always listened & never questioned whenever the Force spoke to him. It’s why you see him meditating just moments before he dies – he’s at peace even in the face of death because he knows his death will come when it serves the Force – whether now or later.)
