The “all guys are the same” narrative is super frustrating, because it’s something imposed on men. We’re not allowed to be emotional or expressive. If we’re too happy or sad, then we’re gay. If we get too angry or too competitive, then we’re toxic. God forbid we show passion for theater, musicals, or dance. God forbid we cry when we’re hurt, whether it’s a broken leg or a broken heart. So what way does that leave us to express ourselves other than as the “generic guy” who is the only version of man society doesn’t ridicule & reject?
