I’m convinced “N” & “M” were originally the same letter, and either some royal had a speech impediment that nobody who valued their life was willing to correct them, or some scribe accidentally added another stroke to “N” and went “fuck it,” so now we have 2 letters that basically serve the same function.
I’m probably wrong, but it’s funny to think about the “what-ifs,” or at least for me it is.
