Escaped Lab Rat

I Am

An escaped lab rat

Roaming the streets

Doing my best to blend in

But my measured genetics betray me

My fur may be a bit ragged & dirty now

But you can still tell my coat is cut from a different cloth

& the thing about having a high IQ

Doesn’t mean I have any street smarts

So although I’m clever enough to survive

I still Bumble down the street

Tripping over all the potholes

The locals know like the back of their paw

But, wait… huh, that’s new

I may seem like a fool

But my time is coming soon

Learning all the new rules

My sway becoming swagger proves I grew

& though I never knew

Sometimes seeds just need different dirt to bloom
