Random Thought #210: Sweet Surprises (R&R)

I just learned that “He-Man” was created by Roger Sweet; unfortunately, it’s because I saw a “Go-Fund-Me” for him to receive medical care he desperately needs. Fuck America sometimes…

Still, a cool coincidence sharing the last name with someone who not only has had a huge impact on popular culture in general, but on me specifically. I wasn’t a huge fan of He-Man per-se, though I do remember a time I watched it pretty consistently. I’m pretty sure it was a re-boot; yet even moreso than the show, that “heyyeahyahyaeh” meme has impacted me with how much it’s made me laugh.

Roger is the 2nd example of famous/significant people who I was unaware share the last name “Sweet” until much later in Life. The other example being Robert W. Sweet (funny how close to “Roger” that name is…) who was the judge that ruled in favor of Nintendo when Universal Studios tried to sue them for copyright infringement over naming their Ape character “Donkey Kong.”

I’m sure there are plenty of other significant Sweets out there who have played unknown roles in my life, and though I’m interested in learning who they are, I’m not gonna go searching through a list of names on Wikipedia to find them.
