What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

I work night shift, so it’s kinda hard to describe my “first hour” since I’m awake through the night.

Defining when “morning” starts is also pretty difficult. I say, “have a good one!” now, so automatically I’ll say it to my coworkers going on break as I hand the food i just made for them, knowing they’ll be back in 30…

Though, when I first started, my initial “farewell” was “have a good night!” Then I realized around 4AM it’s not really night, but it’s still strange to say, “good morning!”

For awhile, when I realized it was in that awkward time-zome, I’d say, “have a good night! Or morning… somewhere in between,” and laugh a little. They’d normally chuckle too, either because they empathize with that haze that happens at that time, or just because they’re on autopilot and their body has been trained to laugh when others do…

Whatever

I would say 5:30 could be considered my “morning,” since that’s when the 1st shift manager normally comes in, but if I did that, then my 1st hour of my morning would look pretty similar to the previous 7 hours of my night, since my shift is 10:00PM-6:30AM. So, since that’s the case, let’s use 6:30 as my 1st hour.

Well, the 1st 15-30 minutes of my day looks like me doing dishes or taking out the trash at work, since even though I’m scheduled to be out at 6:30, and they’d let me clock out right on the dot if I wanted or needed to,
