It’s kinda funny I had this thought since Spirit is dead…
I randomly thought of that story about some airline that changed the amount of olives on their first class salad and they ended up saving millions of dollars.
I used to think it was genius; then I lived life after that “trick” was revealed to the world, witnessing the monsters it spawned, and realized how much i hated that story now. Though, that feeling of resentment towards the olive airline didn’t really last, since I realized it really is genius; it’s just that the problem is, a genius idea will devour a common man…
So, I thought I’d add this on. One of the things that triggered this thought is my work at Sheetz. It’s a good company with an emphasis on customer service/ providing a pleasant & particular experience that i personally value. They give you leeway to make a customer’s day special, kinda like Disney, and I appreciate being afforded that particular form of freedom.
However, I’m just a bottom-level worker right now. Sure, I’m at the top of the list, and there’s a good chance I’ll make the jump to management soon, but the management side of Sheetz really isn’t my concern; it’s above my pay-grade. So, 1 thing that I’ll probably have to become aware of is how much i give back to customers “on the house.” Like throwing in an extra mozzarella stick, or giving a complementary coffee; whatever i like to do to make someone’s day.
Let’s just say I don’t want to be weighed down by the worry of waste & variance.
…
This hasn’t really
Whatever
This is more of a brainstorm anyways
…
The reason the “olive airline” story bothers me is that so many companies now look for ways to cut corners to save money in a way that people won’t notice, like removing a single olive from a salad; yet, in doing so, they’ve cut so many corners that it’s no longer about…
Finish the thought for your selfs, retards
