Random Thought #401: FüNИÿ People

Writing about Hot Rod & Andy Samberg got me thinking about Adam Sandler; as I mentioned in the previous thought, I see a lot of them in each other…

& so, it got me thinking about Adam Sandler

& how people give him a lot of crap about his movies; he falls under that “Man-Child” genre of comedy (like Will Ferrell), so it’s easy to disrespect his Art when you’re just barely old enough to realize it’s for “kids,” so you pretend to hate it like Barney..

However, his credibility has taken a major hit with the latter part of his acting portfolio, especially. And that’s fair; a lot of those movies are genuinely “bad.” (Thought I’d mention, i don’t think I’ve actually seen any of his “bad” movies, though i think I’d probably enjoy them still; my favorite Adam Sandler movie is Little Nicky…). The one that comes to mind 1st is “Jack & Jill” or whatever it’s called. That’s one that legitimately made go “euwgh?” when I saw the trailer.

Though, let’s try to get to the point i wanted to make.

There’s this sorta theory I have about Adam Sandler. Maybe “perspective” is a better word than “theory”… whatever. There’s a certain point in AS’s career where I consider he committed “career suicide,” in a way. Not in the sense that he made himself unmarketable; rather, he just took his Art off the market.

To me, all öF the “bad movies” are just AS reaping the rewards of a Life well lived. All those movies after a certain point stopped being about the movie; it was just him in retirement, going on vacation with his friends in Hawaii or wherever, then making Hollywood pay for his Fun by filming No-Effort Garbage.

He doesn’t really care about the work anymore; he’s just here for a good time for whatever he has left to himself, and I respect the Hell outta him for it.

I thought I’d quickly mention, there are 2 movies that I feel like Mark the point where he “gave up.” Not in those movies, particularly; even though i enjoy them, others… whatever.

The 2 movies I’m talking about are:

They’re pretty depressing stories for “Comedy” …
